Six months is the ideal preparation window for most students aiming for a 500+ point improvement. This timeline assumes roughly 10-12 hours of study per week and uses official College Board materials.

Month 1: Foundation and Diagnosis

Weeks 1-2: Full Diagnostic

Take a full official SAT practice test under timed conditions. Score it, identify your baseline, and categorize every error by type.

Weeks 3-4: Learn the Format

Study the test structure deeply. Learn what each question type is asking. Start Khan Academy SAT — complete all diagnostic exercises.

Goal by end of Month 1

Know exactly which question types and math topics are your weaknesses. Have a prioritized list of areas to fix.

Month 2: Core Concept Drilling

Weeks 5-6: Math Foundations

Focus on your top 3 weakest math topics. Complete topic-specific drills (Khan Academy, College Board practice). Aim for 90% accuracy on these topics before moving on.

Weeks 7-8: RW Foundations

Master grammar rules (subject-verb agreement, punctuation, transitions). Practice vocabulary in context. Read 1 short academic article daily.

Month 3: Practice and Pattern Recognition

Take 2 full practice tests (weeks 9-10 and 11-12). Full review after each test. Start recognizing question patterns — SAT repeats the same types endlessly. Track your error log.

Expected score at Month 3

If starting around 1100, expect to be at 1200-1250 by end of Month 3.

Month 4: Targeted Improvement

Use Month 3's error data to drive Month 4. No more "general practice" — only targeted drills on remaining weak areas. Take 1 full test per week. Start practicing timing — aim to finish with 2-3 minutes remaining per module.

Month 5: Simulated Testing

Test simulation mode: take 2 full practice tests under real conditions (quiet room, phone off, timed breaks). Review deeply. Your score should be approaching your target by Week 20.

Month 6: Refinement and Confidence

Weeks 21-22: Work on your hardest question types only. Weeks 23-24: Light review, maintain pace. Final week: no heavy studying. Sleep well, review test-day logistics only.
